Long lump in lower right abdomen

For want of a better turn of phrase.

I've had two C-sections, last one 11 months ago. Still have a two-finger gap between muscles on tummy.

Lower down though, between my hip and just under my tummy button, I've got this long hard lump. It is not on the left-hand side. It's also not painful, although I have been having some tummy aches. (I assume my periods are coming back after DC2.)

DH just had a feel and thinks I should go to the doctor tomorrow. Is he overreacting? Suddenly all sorts is going through my head.

Constipation tends to be on the left hand side.

Definitely go to the GP and find out what it is.

It could be something as innocuous as a large and harmless fibroid. They can grow pretty large during pregnancy.

No, not constipated.

Crap. Now I am a bit worried. Could it be a hernia? Would someone not have noticed a fibroid thing during my pregnancy/CS? They were always rummaging around down there ...

They might well have noticed, but not bothered suing anything. IME a large external fibroid is really not a big deal in day-to-day life.

In fact, mine wasn't noticed until my second scan, at 12w, when I said to the sonographer that I could feel something large moving around in my belly, and could he have a look? It turned out to be a fibroid that was larger than the 12w uterus to which it was attached. I had been feeling this large mass for 3-4 weeks already, yet it had been missed at my first scan at 11w.

So what do you do about a fibroid? Did you have yours removed?

Is this lump there all the time? I had a come-and-go lump in my abdomen. Diagnosed as hernia. Went to surgery and it was blood. I had had an emergency C section four years prior, and I think this was endometrial tissue that got put into that area, and at menstrual time, it bled.

I have done nothing about my fibroid. It was very uncomfortable during pregnancies, but had no effect whatsoever on the babies or the labours. It grew during the prregnancies and shrank a bit between them. I had investigations after dc1 to see about removing it, but the gyne warned me that there was a significant risk that the surgery could result in hysterectomy, so I decided to wait until my family was complete.

But I never did get it removed. And I have no idea it's there. I mean, I know it's there, it just might as well not be. At its largest during pregnancy it was 11cm. 3y ago it was 3cm, so it has shrunk substantially.

I went to the doctor's this morning. She said the lump I could feel was my colon (or is it intestine? I'm translating out of German), and that it was full of air. She then said this would definitely be the case if I were constipated and ate a lot of fruit. I'm not and I don't, and told her so. But she still thought that's what it was.

I asked about a hernia but she said it definitely wasn't that.

She wanted to take some blood to check for an infection, but we had to go to a meeting at Kindergarten. I'm going back tomorrow to do that.

The problem is, I'm now in agony after all the pressing on my tummy that she did. I can barely stand. Should I call them back? I don't want to make a fuss if it's just air Hmm

I hope you called them back. Doesn't matter if its 'just' air, you're in pain - that's what matters.

The pain subsided after about an hour. The DC were having a nap at the time, and I didn't want to have to wake them to go back. Excuses, excuses. I'm a wimp.

Going to tell them tomorrow though when I go in to have blood taken.

I can feel it again tonight lying in bed, but it's not painful. It doesn't (or should I say, I don't) feel gassy or anything. It feels like a bloody great lump.

Hi! I know old post but I have the exact same thing after third c section. Doctor suggested it was my womb (?!) but I had an ultrasound and sonographer said gynae wise I was all fine - which was all he could check. Never heard back from the doctors! Need to call to investigate further but struggle finding the time working new job. I think I have a hernia or 2 also but these are higher up so I am just confused

Muscle knot? I get one there sometimes, feels like a golf ball, I can massage it away eventually.
