Possible thyroid issue?

I have had some vague, maybe unconnected symptoms over the last few months:

  • tired
  • light headed / foggy feeling
  • pins and needles in hands and feet
  • eczema / dry skin around eyes
  • hot sweats
  • can't sleep
  • heavier periods but shorter
  • palpitations
  • weight is slowly creeping up although exercise / food has remained the same
  • have to clear the shower drain on an almost daily basis due to the amount of hair in there

I had sort of thought maybe peri menopause but I'm only 35. Could it actually be thyroid related, I think I will go and see the GP but they are crap, can I actually request to be tested?

Thanks

Yes. On those symptoms there shouldn’t be any good clinical reason not to test TSH, FT4, vitamin B12, folate and ferritin. If your doctor will test vitamin D as well, then that is all to the good.

Your symptoms could be thyroid, or vitamin B12 deficiency, or low ferritin, or possibly something else entirely.
