Twitching eyelid

It's driving me nuts and it only started a few hours ago! The bottom lid kind of spasms every second for a minute or two then stops, I think it's over, then it comes back. Not painful just bloody annoying. I want to avoid googling but what is it?!.

I get it in my top lid and its always at times of extreme tiredness and or stress. Very annoying but harmless afaik.

helensburgh · 22/12/2014 19:25

Defiantly due to stress or tiredness. X

GlitzAndGigglesx · 22/12/2014 19:26

I had this a few weeks ago. It was happening for pretty much 2 days straight. I did Google it because I'm a hypochondriac and it said its down to stress, exhaustion and caffeine intake. All sounded about right

hugoagogo · 22/12/2014 19:27

I have it sometimes if I'm v tired too.

TheSpottedZebra · 22/12/2014 19:28

Yup, happens to me when I am very... stressed or tired!

It's horrid, isn't it? Hope you're back to normal soon.

MissCardew · 22/12/2014 19:32

Oooh I've had this on and off for years but this particular bout has been going on for about two weeks. Mine is related to tiredness and stress and it's sooooo annoying Confused. Massaging around your eyes can sometimes help or as other posters have said, it generally goes naturally within a few days.

eatyourveg · 22/12/2014 19:44

Another one who gets it when over tired

Tea1Sugar · 22/12/2014 19:54

Well I do have an 8mo who thinks it's cool to start the day at 4.45am.

I get it occasionally, seems to be random with me. Really annoying isn't it? It should go away in a few hours by itself.

321zerobaby · 22/12/2014 21:22

Magnesium deficiency, caused by stress usually.

hoppus · 22/12/2014 21:26

I get this too, always in the same eye. Tiredness as everyone else has mentioned, also when I am a bit dehydrated. Pressing on it seems to help temporarily

mawinter · 22/12/2014 21:30

Another cause could be too much salt in your diet.

saveoursouls · 22/12/2014 21:37

Feeling much relieved now, as I've had the same on the upper lid of one eye, for days now. Looks like something is pulling my lid out wards and feels bloody weird. Makes me quite self conscious too as convinced it's very obvious! I've had a stressful few weeks though....roll on 2015 and less twitchy lid weirdness for us all.

Viviennemary · 22/12/2014 21:39

I get it from time to time. And was told it was tiredness and stress as everyone has said. Hope 2015 is a better year.

Clobbered · 22/12/2014 21:42

Another vote for tiredness / stress. I get it quite often, and sometimes elsewhere - usually leg muscles. REALLY annoying isn't it?!

Tea1Sugar · 23/12/2014 11:53

Sooo annoying!! Piss off weird eye flicker.

EmNetta · 24/12/2014 22:05

When I had this, GP suggested doing some rapid blinking for as long as possible, and this did help (when I remembered).

saveoursouls · 09/01/2015 13:39

Ooh thanks, will try that next time it reappears....though it disappeared entirely over Christmas when I was on holiday and not stressed....sure it'll return though!
