5yo with swollen toe- can I do/ give her anything?

Dd has got a swollen middle toe. Not aware of any accident where it might have been injured. It is red and swollen and slightly shiny, hurts when I press on it but not otherwise. Can't see any bite or anything.

Should I do anything or leave it alone?

I think it sounds like an infection rather than injury. I would be tempted to take her to the GP.

When I've had this type of thing on a finger though, I've soaked in in hot salty water so that may be worth a go in the meantime.

I wondered about an infection, not sure where/ how you get these in the toe if no open wound. Do you think the pharmacist would be able to advise, before I make an appt with GP?

Always worth asking I think.

I think it's easy to get infections along the edge of the nail.
