Watery eye? Anyone had this?

For the past few weeks my right eye has been watering constantly, it's driving me mad.
I saw my gp who said maybe a blocked tear duct and prescribed ant biotics and eye drops to no avail.
The confusing thing is I think the other one is slightly affected too.
If I go out I look like I'm crying and am constantly mopping my eyes.
My eyes feel tired too and look puffy.
I'm not sure if it's dry eye, which despite the name, Google says can cause these symptoms.
I've now got another appointment for hopefully a referral to the eye dept but I'm going to be like this all over flipping Christmas, no make up and a tissue in my hand
Has anyone had this and what was it?

I've had this all summer and continuing now. It's utterly miserable isn't it. Makes the skin around my eyes very sore.

Optician said it was blocked tear ducts. GP referred to hospital who said it wasn't. They wouldn't think of anything else until the skin around my eyes heals - but how will it do that if constantly wet? Stupidly I allowed myself to be discharged from the hospital's care with eye drops which did nothing. GP re-referred me. I now have steroid ointment which is holding off the soreness but my eyes are still running. Back to the hospital later this month. Apparently it may be down to narrowed tear ducts which can be operated on but the eye doctor seems to want to write it off as allergies and get me shuttled off to another department.... frustrating barely covers it!

The skin under my eye is very sire, I just smear on Vaseline and mop with those balm tissues.
I love make up and normally wear it everyday but I don't bother anymore I look baggy eyed and as if I've been crying.
I'm hoping to really insist the ophthalmologist does something, it's distracting when driving too and I drive a lot.

I had something similar, my eyes would spontaneously weep, I found being tired or driving made it much worse.

Went to the GP, diagnosed as dry eye, ie the eye is dry, it produces excess tears to compensate, you end up with weepy eyes. I was prescribed viscotears, a clear gel applied twice daily, cleared up in a few days.

I suffer from dry eyes. I also had what we think was a blocked tea duct and I was advised to use a clean flannel dampened in hot as can bear water, as a compress. I used a little bit of pressure in the direction of my tearduct.

I suspect you need to know what is wrong to know how best to treat it. Could you go to your optometrist for advice - they may be able to fit you in before Christmas, especially if you are a regular? Are you getting any discomfort or a feeling like something is in your eye?

The dry eye symptoms seem like mine as in the eyes feeling tired and a bit itchy at tines.

A word (or several) of warning. It took 4 different hospitals and 2 GP's and 5 specialists over 18 months to finally find out what was wrong with my eyes. (My life drastically changed because of this as I couldn't drive).
I told them all along I thought it was eczema in my eyes, they all told me that I was wrong, that it was extremely rare. Guess what?
The specialist I saw who finally diagnosed it correctly said it was obvious and that they had tried to fob me off with cheap steriod drops. He gave me the prescription for the good stuff and my eyes started to clear up within days.
If you have eczema develop under your eyes from the constant tears it will help to use Body Shops Aloe Vera night cream. (thanks to Valiumredhead for this recommendation, changed my life) The relief from using this was something I cannot describe.

I hope in your case it turns out to be dry eye or just an infection. All the wrong medicines made my eyes worse so this will be an indication for you.
