DP has bad pains on the top of his right foot after resting it for a while. GP wasn't sure what it was. he's had it for a couple of months and it's been getting worse. any ideas what it could be or how to help with the pain?

Has he seen a chiropodist?

no, does he need GP referral for that?

It might be worth asking at the surgery or health centre what the procedure is. My son has very flat feet and had back pain as a result. I got fed up with the GP, and went privately to a chiropodist who was qualified to do biomechanical assessments. It set me back 30 pounds, but it was money well spent IMO. If you could manage an initial assessment, you might have some information to take back to the GP.

There isn't a chance that it could be due to ill fitting shoes? Or is it his "accelerator foot"? A friend had severe pain in his leg and hip and had all kinds of scans and tests - turned out to be the seat position in his new car.

Have you googled "foot pain"? There are several very useful sites on this topic.

Hope some of this might help.

I have something similar to this

When I woke I limped a bit and then gradually over many months it started to hurt during the day

I went to the hospital & got fitted with these foot supports

I wore them for about 3 months and now pop them in if my foot gets at all sore

Get referred to the othotics dept (I think that's what it's called)
