Hi
I had a barium swallow in feb after a failed endoscoy in jan. Dr said results normal.
My symptoms are no better and I am booked for another endoscopy next week.
My question is...how likely is it that the barium swallow missed something?
The dr wants to take a biopsy to test for coeliac if he can (the sedation didn't work last time :()
I am very very nervous after what happened last time :(

What are your symptoms?

Badvocinapeartree · 04/12/2014 18:03

Gerd and epigastric pain.
Had gastritis in jan after a gallbladder op in nov.
At least they think it was gastritis - they don't actually know as didn't have the endoscopy.

A few years go (5?) yes.
It was negative.
No idea if it can suddenly become positive?
My dad had it.

I am going in to have the endoscopy - hopefully ! - next Friday.
The dr plans to take biopsies for coeliac (my mum has it) and h pylori I imagine, but I will ask him.
Just hope I manage to cope with it this time :(
I think back in jan they were worried about an ulcer and they put me on one parasols for 2 weeks but as I understand it if I do, I need ABs?
Is that right?
I'm very sorry about your mum x

I thought the h pylori test was a breath test!?
That's what I had anyway...

I am having sedation!
I have asked for horse tranquilliser!
:)
No idea why it didn't work last time :(
I had midazolam.
But it had no/minimal effect on me.
So I am pretty anxious.
Am having this one at a private hospital though, not NHS.
No idea if that means the sensation will be better?
