Anyone recently had a breast lump

And then referred to breast clinic?
Could you tell me what happened at your appointment and also your age? Did you leave knowing what it was?
My appointment is tomorrow and letter says be expected to be there 4 hours and I should find out what it is before I leave.
GP says I'll have a mammogram, but reading the nhs website it says I'll have an ultrasound as they don't do mammograms on people my age, 24.
Just a bit nervous.

I had one last year, I am 33. I had an ultrasound.
Went in, filled out a form, was taken through to a room, given a big shopping bag type thing to put my top and bra in and a gown to put on
Then sat in the waiting area for a couple of hours

Had the scan, was nothing to worry about and knew right there and then

Must add, I was terrified, but it is all very quick and professional.
Also, if I had to go again, I would wait to take my bra off until I got in there. They say it saves time taking it off earlier but I have big boobs and was so uncomfortable for a good couple of hours

Did they check both breasts? Or just the one?

They only checked the area the lump was I think

In the clinic I went to, partners were allowed in the first waiting room but not further in as there were lots of women in gowns. I remember women popping out to update relatives on progress

I'm 51 and found a lump in August.

I saw the doctor on a Monday and got an appointment at our nearest NHS hospital the following Monday.

Once there, I had to fill in forms about family history and whether I smoke. Went through to an initial consultation about 10 mins later, given a gown and basket to carry my clothes in. The first consultant had a rummage and said she thought it was probably benign but still had to be checked out. Straight through for a mammogram on both breasts. Then into have a biopsy where I was told immediately that it was just 'fatty tissue'.

The staff were all amazing and professional. I had a follow-up phone call confirming the diagnosis a few days later, and then a letter confirming what was said.

Hope everything went well Hobby...I am 23 and found a lump last month...and was referred to the breast clinic for an ultrasound a week later.

The appointment took around 3 hours (2.5 spent in the waiting room) and was painless but nerve wrecking. it was such a relief at the end when they told me it was just a harmless cyst. x
