periods stopped - not pregnant

Right I have started a thread in this section before (must have just been lucky with my health). I also know I should go to a GP and I will make an appointment for Friday (my day off work - oh joy) but does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

I'm 41 years old (relevant as I suppose it just could be an early menopause)and have never missed a period since starting them at 11 years old except for when pregnant and even then I had a load of bleeding in the first 12 weeks.

I got my first post-birth period 3 months after
ds was born (despite exclusive breastfeeding etc) and have been like clockwork since then apart from the last couple of months.

I went on the mini pill when ds was 1 year old (he's now 22 months old) and periods were still regular though lighter and some breakthrough bleeding.

I came off the pill in July (this year) and had one very very light period in August. I am now 2 months late and not pregnant (test was negative) so why is this? Could it be settling down after coming off the pill or maybe slightly early menopause (please say no !!!) or maybe something worse.

I know two months without a period is not long for some people but as I say it is unheard of for me.

Any ideas

I think you can get false negatives with pg tests - maybe try another one?

Other than that I have no idea I'm afraid. I know pregnancy and the pill can mess with your cycle. I hope your GP can help.

I was really hoping it wasn't the menopause. Still I'll have to face to sometime

Will see the GP and see what he says
