What's with my mid-cycle bleeding?

I'm late 30's, have two children under 4 (and two miscarriages, so 4 pregnancies in 4 years). Periods have got more painful, heavier and more 'emotional' with each pregnancy. I'm on roughly period 8 since DS2 was born and I'm having mid-cycle spotting. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th cycle I've noticed it. It's around the time I should be ovulating. Is it related to that, do you think? Or that we've had sex for the first time in aaaaages this weekend? We're TTC, and I've got this faintly worrying notion this is a sign my ovaries and eggs have given up hope and I'm about to early menopause. What do you think?

Appreciate that TTC and not having had sex for aaaages aren't compatible, but it's the reality of having two under five. I must be mad...

I would be asking your GP for a referral to a gynaecologist so you can be further assessed. This is not a problem for a GP to potentially be messing around with.

Spotting between periods should always be checked out further to ascertain the cause. This together with the changing nature of your periods (and endometriosis is a common cause of persistently very heavy and or painful periods) warrants specialist advice.

In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary as this would prove helpful to the gynae as well.

Ok. Thanks. I hate bothering GPs, so sometimes need to check its a thing worth going for IYSWIM
