I presume this isn't normal, but neborns are such funny little things, I am never sure! DS2 is 5 weeks old, and when I changed him this morning, there were 2 fairly large spots of mucousy blood. Any idea what this might be?

Thank you!

Was a little worried. He has been straining a bit.

Why does it take such effort to pass liquid poo?

Ds did this a few weeks ago when he was about 3/4 weeks old but his poo was very solid and formed.

We had him checked out and they said it was just an anal fisure (sp) and would pass.
Just keep an eye on it.
