Posting on behalf of my sister. Has anyone got any idea what may be wrong with her?

I am posting on behalf of my sister, who is not a mum yet, so doesn't use MN, but I am a bit worried about her.
Basically, around a year ago she started vomiting after eating anything containing garlic. She wasn't too worried, as she thought she was just suddenly irritated by all things garlicy, & she avoided eated garlicy foods.
A few months back she was violently sick after an Indian, but put it down to the food being spicy.
Recently however, she has been violently sick on two occasions after eating very bland food.
On Friday she was sick all night after eating plain noodles. She also claims to feel full very quickly after eating & be very gassy.
She is going to make a doctors appt in the week, but has anyone got any idea what could be causing this horrible vomiting? (she is pretty sure she is not pregnant btw)
My thoughts were that maybe it is a hernia or ulcer, but I am really not sure.
Has anyone got any clues as to what could be wrong with her, or experienced anything similar?

i wont suggest anything till your sister has seen the GP.

Pinkchampagne · 08/10/2006 18:47

I have told her that she must see the gp & she says she will make a doctors appt in the week.
Just feeling a little worried about her.

ok, basically, my brother has a proiblem with the valve on his stomache closing up and not letting food pass. he has had a balloon op, which didnt work, so last jan they opened him up to try and fix it. not worked that well.

he would puke after eating. at first it wasnt very often, then he found he had to drink when eating. he lost a lot of weight.

Alibaldi · 08/10/2006 21:30

Did the foods she ate have msg (monosodiumglutamate) in them? Many people can develop an allergic reaction to msg. My husband's another one and it makes him sick too.

Started of being anything with garlic in, but recently it has been very bland food. She said the last two episodes of violent vomiting were following a jacket potato with beans, and then Fri night after plain noodles.
Sorry to hear about your brother, misdee. Is he any better now?

Sounds a bit like when my friend had gall stones

Pinkchampagne · 08/10/2006 21:36

Hadn't thought of gall stones.

he is not 100% better, but better than he was, and has since regain weight, which is good cos he looked awful.

but it could be any number of things really.

If you'd like to email me on [email protected], I might be able to help.

Pinkchampagne · 08/10/2006 21:39

Yes, I guess it could. Something is certainly not right though. I am glad she is going to the doctors, although she is petrified of having an investigation involving a camera inside her!

oh suew, that does sound like that maybe ehat my brother has. they said that it had almost closed up when he had the 2nd op and hardly anything that wasnt in liquid form would go through. he was vomiting up un-digested food.

Pinkchampagne · 09/10/2006 16:09

Thanks for all your help, pruni. I have forwarded your mail onto my sister.

No problem PC
If even one bit of it helps, I'll be pleased.
Random vomiting is grim, I didnt have a meal out for years and dreaded visiting people, going on holiday etc.
But as I said, being a size 10 was pretty nice.

Pinkchampagne · 09/10/2006 19:21

My sister is a size 8 atm, so if she loses too much weight she will fade away!!
It must have been really grim for you. I am glad you got it sorted in the end.

She has made a doctors appt for Friday!

My sister went to the doctors on Friday & she has been referred on for further investigation.
She is petrified at the thought of maybe having a camera put down her throat!
Pruni, she said to thank you for your info.
