just because it hasnt been done for a while and lots of new people again.

At the moment there are 7012 people in the Uk waiting for a transplant. Of those 100 people are waiting for a heart. One of those is my husband, and our friends at the transplant unit at harefield.

There are children waiting for all sort of organs, people of all ages.

if you havent signed up yet, and want to then visit uktransplant

to show support of organ donation, wear the brilliant live life then give life campaign t-shirts i'd give you one

Emily of the live life then give life campaign is waiting for a double lung transplant. 50% of people waiting for lungs will die before they get a transplant.

and of course, you can visit our blog at waiting for the call

I am on the organ donor register already, and I have also told all my fan=mily my wishes.

I also give blood and am on the bone marrow donor register as well.

I hope that your hubby gets his transplant soon.

ilovecaboose · 07/10/2006 23:45

Signed both me and dp up - family know my wishes as well.

Can't give blood unfortunately

izzybiz · 08/10/2006 09:55

Im on the register already.

Ive heard that in some countries they have a system were everyone is automaticly registered and have to opt out if they dont want to donate.

I think that is a much better way, i think alot of people would donate, but just dont get round to registering.

Good luck to your husband.

misdee · 08/10/2006 09:57

izzybiz, in some countries its rare for anyone waiting for a transplant to die waiting.

im on register - glad law changed so I know family wont refuse permission. Cant give blood as I lost alot during childbirth, but will in about a year (even though I am really scared of needles)

Not a nice subject, but in the process of asking DH "if anything happened to DS, can we....." as I dont think we could make that decision at the time.

misdee · 08/10/2006 10:06

my dd1 who is 6years old placed herself on the donation register. if anything happened to any of my children then i wouldnt hesitate. i followed Lecys story, who was just 6years olkd and waiting for a heart, 9months of waiting. And to see the pics of her before and after transplant, the difference is amazing.
