Mitral Valve Prolapse in pregnancy

Have put this thread on pregnancy board too but thought i'd post it here too...

Have just had 18 week check by midwife for pregnancy and was amazed at how much they are wanting to check me.

With my other 2 births I just had antibiotics in labour and that was that. This time they want me to see a cardiologist and go up to Guy's hospital for a scan of the baby to see whether it has inherited the condition from me!!!

I have always been led to believe by my cardiologist that it was a benign heart condition and not to worry about it. Are the midwives over reacting or am I being too blase?

Would love to hear from anybody who has experience of this...
