Hungover without the alcohol!

Hi

I hope someone can shine a light on my concerns for me. I will try to make my post as succinct as possible.

For quite some time now I wake up feeling hungover, headache and general aches and pains. My legs feel totally fatigued as if I have just ran a marathon! These feelings can subside during the day but generally don't. I feel utterly wrecked.

More recently I contacted influenza which has totally wiped me out and even the simplist of tasks leaves me shattered. For example I am now laid on the bed wrapped in towels trying to summon the energy to get dressed after my bath).

I have a stressful job and my sleep is not restful (hasn't been since surgical menopause several years ago). I'm on estrogen hrt. I used to also be prescribed testosterone but this is no longer licenced for use for women (my sense of wellbeing was generally better when on testosterone and I slept more soundly).

I ensure I go to bed and get up the same time each day, have a cool room and snugly bed made up with natural fibres to aid restful sleep. Nonetheless I regularly wake (more recently with flu cough) and never wake feeling rested ready to face the day.

I don't believe I am suffering depression as I have the will to want to do activities but lack the energy. I am beginning to feel despondent and worry this is it for the rest of my natural and I am only in my early fifties.

Currently I am signed of with flu (2 weeks) and can't imagine feeling well enough to return next week.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you been to your GP? Maybe this would be a good start, get some blood tests done.

It could be numerous things.

The lying on the bed thing is something I do sometimes when I'm suffering from total anxiety. It can completely knock me out.

Thanks Pink. Yes rather than ask about others experiences via MN I will just discuss my GP (as already arranged for next week).

Do you have gas central heating? Have you checked for carbon monoxide?

Sorry for the late response! Only just seen your reply Musical. No but intend to get one. DH does not have the same symptoms.
