Does anyone know what this means? It was picked up on my first mammogram. Being referred to a consultant but slightly worried.

I had this last year. Calcifications can be a concern and can be a sign of small cell carcinoma. This is in the ducts of the breast. So referral to a consultant may be to rule this out. I was seen very quickly - within a week. The mammogram films went to a senior radiologist for review and to the consultant. I had a physical exam with the consultant. He then told me that the calcification was basically left over dried up milk post breast feeding! No indication of tumours.

I hope this helps. I found the process very quick.

Thanks FanSpam. That's reassuring. So do you have to go back for check-ups any more?
