It's to find out why I've got chronic lower back/buttock pain which I've had since just after dd2's birth (1 year ago).
Am scared in case they find something horrible. Am also scared they'll find nothing and say they can't help me!
I'm being a bit silly I know. I should be grateful I'm finally going to have someting substantial done about it.

Mine showed a slipped disc, and inflammation from it causing dreadful sciatica. I had an injection in my spine, lots of physio, and in six months ( a total of 18 months in pain) it was fine (it may have gradually got better without it, I don't know?).3 years later and its still fine, and it was really chronic at the time.

ry to think positice Moomin.
If you dont have the scan, you'll still have the pain.
But once you've had the scan you might find that it can be sorted and the pain will go.
It's a 'no lose' situation really.

Hope that doesn't sound too harsh and I can understand your fears but try to think about the possible, and most likely, good outcome.

I've just had an MRI scan for exactly the same symptoms. I've had the facet joint injections and physio but all to no avail. I'm hoping the scan will show up something that was missed on previous x-rays. I'm desperate for a diagnosis as constant chronic pain is so dibilitating and miserable. I've had it for well over a year now.
I really do hope you find out what is causing your pain.Back pain is so common and I shouldn't think it's anything sinister so don't worry.
In the meantime I've been told about a book called 'Treat your own back' by Robin McKenzie (available from Amazon). Apparantly it's really helpful.
Good Luck
