INCREDIBLE heart burn

This morning I was overtaken by the most horrendous heartburn I've ever had. Truly agony. I didn't feel nauseous, but every so often I'd get a little wave if stomach acid and thought I was going to be sick. Want to the pharmacy and bought lots of Zantac and Rennies. Took three Zantac and pretty much a pack of Rennies. Subsideded after about two hours, then had gradually reduced til I'm fine now.

Is it just one of those weird things, or might it be something sinister?

From January to April I was really poorly with a persistant cough. After 2 course of anti-biotics and a chest x-ray it turned out I had GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). I was prescribed Omeprazole and I am a new person. Occasionally I forget to take it and within 24 hours my heartburn returns.
Not saying you have this but I would get to your GP and get checked out. GERD includes other symptoms like hoarseness, sensitive teeth and nausea.
