horrible shoulder and collar bone area pain for over 8 weeks now
started after daft foray into intense short bursts of exercise - press ups, which have never done before
then exacerbated when a heavy box fell down towards me when moving house - I caught it and wrenched shoulder more
have seen private physio a few weeks who said maybe had injured first rib area - strapped it for a bit which helped and gave me some exercises. gradually improved though still a bit painful
then stupidly went on holiday last week and played some gentle tennis - now feel am back to square 1
intense sharp shooting pains along collar bone which radiate round to shoulder muscle at back - pain up into chin area and into neck towards ear, shurgging movement really hurts
anti inflamms don't help
can't lift arm up normally - can't get hand above shoulder level, can't get dressed easily etc
am wondering if might actually have broken something?? is this possible?

Go to GP and ask for physio referral.
Probably pulled or strained muscles or even a torn ligament.
Pretty sure not a bone.

so sorry- missed the physio bit. They sound a bit useless - a sports physio might be better?

thanks pinkfrocks - will try that
