Compressed nerve?

I had a work related injury last Sat. I hit my back in a sticking out bit of counter behind where we stand at the till. A few months earlier I hit my head on the same corner of bench. All that was done was it was pushed back a few inches. There was no investigation My accident report wasn't even submitted to head office. A few weeks after my head injury I passed out at home. I had to have a CT brain scan. Luckily nothing untoward was found but there could have been more serious consequences.
I am having physio & now have to have a lumbar CT scan. I have radiating pain down my left bottom towards my knee. My back muscles are frozen & I'm getting tingling in my leg. The physio thinks it's a compressed nerve. Does anyone know of how long for recovery? The physio did trigger point massage. I actually felt in more pain afterwards & it triggered a migraine. I am claiming workers compensation as I am casual & I don't get paid if I am off sick. Has anyone suffered an injury causing a compressed nerve?

Yes I have. To compress a nerve you really need to fall hard onto your feet or bottom where the spine squashes the discs causing the disc to protrude onto the sciatic nerve etc. in my case I fell down a flight of stairs landing very heavily on my bottom. Even then the consultant said that the fall was only partly the cause - as you age the discs lose hydration and become drier making it easy for them to rupture or change shape and protrude. Google degeneration of spinal discs.

It's highly unlikely to compress a nerve by bumping your back. The injury is probably just co incidence and expect to be told that it's not linked to the bump.

Thanks quadrophonic. I saw the physio today & had a CT scan. I seem to be in more pain & just can't bend over at all. I'm seeing the Dr tomorrow for a review so I will see what he says.

The CT image showed a bulging disc. The Dr didn't have full report as my scan was later yesterday. I am signed off another 3 days. A rehab provider has been appoint to liaise with head office & the insurance company & with a view to a worksite assessment. My Dr doesn't want me at work until it's safe. I have to continue with physio.
