Agonising, widespread rash

I have a rash. From head to toe. I went to see a doctor when it first started nearly two weeks ago and I was diagnosed with Pityriasis Rosea.

As time has gone on, the rash has significantly worsened, blistered and is now peeling. Every gland in my body is massively swollen, yet my blood results are normal.

Eventually, I was referred to a dermatologist, who ordered a punch biopsy and gave me a big bag of steroids.

I am completely desperate. Every time I look, the rash is worse. I'm exhausted, feeling sick, aching and my skin feels like it's on fire. I go back to the dermatologist next week for results but I just really want to know what's wrong.

Has anyone ever had anything similar?

I have had Pityriasis Rosea too and it should NOT be as you describe at all. Poor you! It's meant to be a mild virus which might make you feel a bit "off" but that's all.

I have just googled and it seems there are other types though...

Vesicular Pityriasis Rosea causing blisters or Purpuric type....which causes cuts and spots on the rash.

It sounds dreadful for you but looking at that, it at least seems that it's a "normal illness"

The biopsy will tell the doctor exactly what it is....in the meantime can you have a cool bath? Did they give you any cream or anything?

I've got Pityriasis Rosea too, and have had it about 2 weeks.

Not nearly as badly as you though - the rash is still getting worse, lots of spots turning scaly all over back, trunk, neck and arms to some extent too. Itches at night (think its when I'm in front of the log burner and sitting down with nothing to distract me) and in bed too. I feel more tired than normal and a bit off generally.

No swollen glands though and I'm not in agonising pain either - when do you get your biopsy results?

I hope your Pityriasis clears up soon, it's no fun being spotty! Have you been given any ointments?

I get my results Wednesday/Thursday. I just really want to have some answers. I will definitely look up the other forms of PR though.
