Burn on hand

It's as trivial as it sounds: burnt thumb on oven shelf about 7.30 this evening.

But it still really hurts!

As in, can't sleep due to the burning. Have run under cold tap and had ice on it since about 8pm. It's ok when the ice is on it but extremely painful within 1 min of taking it off.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also, have tried germolene and the top layer of blister skin has somehow come off. Confused

Try some paracetamol.

I keep a small aloe vera plant in the kitchen for this type of burn, better than anything I've found, and tape a piece in place overnight.

Thanks both. Took some paracetamol yesterday night and did sleep. Looks a bit grim today but nothing to write home about!

You can buy burn plasters from Boots, they are expensive but they really take the pain away on a small burn.
