Worried about twitching ring finger on left hand.

This afternoon my ring finger started randomly twitching, sometimes it goes nearly to the palm, I can feel the twitch up my arm as well.

Before this I have had some pins and needles in the forearm and hand. I spoke to my GP when this first happened, had some bloods taken (not sure what tests) but they were clear.
He and I felt it was down to stress.

This weekend I had pins and needles again, but immediately following hearing an ambulance, so I put it down to stress/anxiety.

Following that the arm has felt a little achy but only when not busy.
Today the twitching started as we'll as slight pins and needles.

I am ringing the GP tomorrow. I've read this can be connected to nerve compression, but I'm really worried it's something serious.

Has anyone had similar? I have been under a lot of stress lately, don't know if that could be anything to do with it.

I used to get this with my thumb, I was very stressed at the time (mum was dying, I also had CFS) plus I think I had slight carpal tunnel too. It went away by itself for me though. I didn't go to the doctor.

Yeah loads of times particularly when I am anxious. Twitching on it's own is very very rarely a sign of anything serious. Honestly don't worry, I got in a right state about it the first few times as I have health anxiety but it is perfectly normal. Also I don't think that it helps that I lie my head on my arm when I sleep!

Thankyou :)

My eyelids do it when I am tired and my thumb does it too, no reason I can think of other than tiredness.

It's stopped today, but I've come down with some temperature shivery shaky bug so maybe it was that. Feel crap.

Yes it can happen when you are run down. Hope you feel better soon.

I have had this when really stressed. It's called benign fasciculations or something. Lots of reassuring stuff online about it.

DishwasherDogs · 22/10/2014 17:24

Thank you :)
I stupidly googled yesterday and the first hit was motor neurone Shock

I'm pretty sure it's down to stress. I'm going to see if wine helps tonight, might make me sleep better if nothing else!

Ah yes - I have committed that google sin. MND is awful (my friend has it) but my understanding is that you get other symptoms with the twitches.

There is a whole website dedicated to benign twitches!

DishwasherDogs · 22/10/2014 17:59

Oh your poor friend, that's awful :(

My friend has mnd as did my uncle. It is very very rare and twitching is a much later symptom. Stay away from Google! Mnd was one of my worries for over a year. The anxiety made twitching worse. Vicious circle. You dont have it. Stop worrying and don't read anymore about it. Ignorance is bliss.
