Flu jab- should I, shouldn't I?

Hi,

I'm just looking for a bit of feedback/advice on the winter flu vaccination. My midwife is almost insistent that I have it as I'm now at 17 weeks, but I'm not sure on the risks of not having it or the potential side effects if I do have it.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks :)

I'm 34 weeks now and had my flu jab last friday. I've experienced no problems what so ever. The babies (twins) are giving me gyp as per usual!

I had flue last year and though it was going to kill me. With 3 children to look after now I could really do without that again!

I had it last year as when I took ds for his (he has asthma) they had spare stock.

This year I paid £10 to have it done at the chemist at the same time as ds.

I had flu about 5 years ago. Felt totally wiped out during and then for a long time after. I cannot imagine how I would continue to get the children to school and generally be able to look after them if I got the flu. Yes, dh can take over to an extent, but it would make things difficult for him work-wise.

It seemed like a no brainer to me.

Obviously not pregnant now or last year. But I did have to take relenza I think it was called, when dc had been in contact with swine flu and eldest had symptoms, when I was pregnant with ds2. No ill effects and no swine flu.

I'm very pro vaccines for me and my family and tend to trust medical advice.

I have it every year and had it during pregnancy both times. I've had flu once and it was seriously awful.

Have it.

I had it with when pregnant with my first and have just booked in my jab for this pregnancy too.
