Do I qualify for a flu jab?

I've had breast cancer and more major surgery including a bone graft for a mobility injury. I also work in a public-facing role. I'm not over 60 or diabetic. I just wondered if anyone would know if I could have one!

Well I have none of the above and simply accompanied my son to have his own flu jab. And they jumped out at me from behind a leaflet display on ingrown toe nails and jabbed one in.
Is your surgery having any 'flu jab days', pop in and ask them. We had ours on Saturday and it was quite the carnival atmosphere, including a raffle and random nurses jumping out from behind leaflet displays.
I report no after-jab fluey symptoms but my arm aches.

Perhaps it was cos I am supposedly his carer (although some days it feels more like whipping boy).

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know that I could buy one in a supermarket! I take it that a nurse or pharmacist will do the injection? Also, is it the proper stuff?

I always have mine in Tesco they do them for children over 12 too and yes its the correct vaccine

I had mine in Asda for £7. In the booth with a very dishy male pharmacist.

You can try Boots/Tesco etc but I must warn you that when you do that you have to give a brief medical history and they tend to refuse anyone they consider to be a bit risky.

My DH was turned away from Sainsburys - he had gone there because he didn't want to take time off work to go to the free one at the GPs (he would have lost more time and pay then by paying the £10). But despite having a pretty irrelevant medical condition they refused to give him the flu jab so he ended up having to go to the GP anyway. He has had the flu jab every year for many years so he knew it wasn't risky.

It is worth you trying as I don't know how fussy Tesco is but just to prepare you for the possibility they will say no.

That's a good point actually iwaly, there was a questionnaire beforehand.

Pharmacies will refuse anyone who is entitled to a free jab from the GP practice.
