post hysterectomy - is this usual?

Hi, I'm nearly 5 months post-op and whilst everything went well with both the operation and immediate recovery I am still getting internal pain around the wound (TAH) after a long day at work. I teach, so lots of standing. It means that weekends are being spoilt as I really have to rest in order to face the following week. Should I really still be experiencing pain, or should I get it checked out? Thanks in advance :-)

thanks for replying :-) It's more at the end of a long week, so I'll see how it goes. Unfortunately don't know anyone in real life to compare with

My guess is that it's the standing that's causing the problem.

I'm only 2 months on from a hysterectomy, both ovaries and an omentectomy, and feel remarkably well - EXCEPT when I have to stand still, even for a short length of time like queuing at the checkout, waiting for a bus, even chopping veg. In my case, it's my back that hurts, I think because it's taking the strain from abdominal muscles that aren't strong enough yet.

I used to teach, so know what your week is like. Is there any way you can make a conscious effort to sit down more, perch on your desk, even lean against the wall? You might find some physio would help. Worth asking your GP for advice, I think.

Thanks Thymeout. Glad to hear your recovery is going well. I teach primary, so lots of bending over and getting down to their level. Trouble with perching is that it always seems to coincide with the head wandering in Blush . One more week til half term. Will see how I go after that and maybe phone for some advice.
