post hysterectomy - is this usual?

Hi, I'm nearly 5 months post-op and whilst everything went well with both the operation and immediate recovery I am still getting internal pain around the wound (TAH) after a long day at work. I teach, so lots of standing. It means that weekends are being spoilt as I really have to rest in order to face the following week. Should I really still be experiencing pain, or should I get it checked out? Thanks in advance :-)

My guess is that it's the standing that's causing the problem.

I'm only 2 months on from a hysterectomy, both ovaries and an omentectomy, and feel remarkably well - EXCEPT when I have to stand still, even for a short length of time like queuing at the checkout, waiting for a bus, even chopping veg. In my case, it's my back that hurts, I think because it's taking the strain from abdominal muscles that aren't strong enough yet.

I used to teach, so know what your week is like. Is there any way you can make a conscious effort to sit down more, perch on your desk, even lean against the wall? You might find some physio would help. Worth asking your GP for advice, I think.

Thanks Thymeout. Glad to hear your recovery is going well. I teach primary, so lots of bending over and getting down to their level. Trouble with perching is that it always seems to coincide with the head wandering in Blush . One more week til half term. Will see how I go after that and maybe phone for some advice.
