Radon gas - help!

I don't know what to do!!!
I am in the process of buying a house in Devon. I'm currently in norfolk. The survey has come back with a warning of high radon gas in the area. The vendors haven't had the property tested and there are measures I could do to reduce the levels in the property if we do a test and find it's high. But my biggest issue is should I move to an area like this with my family knowing that I put all of us in a higher risk of lung cancer?
I'm originally from Devon and found that my parents/family home is also in a high radon gas area! I'm a little shocked at this. I never thought it was something to worry about when I lived there! I don't want to put our kids at risk... Am I being silly?
I'm considering pulling out and looking at houses east of Exeter which will be further to my family but lower levels of radon...
Please let me know what U would do x

The tests for radon are cheap, and the measures to reduce radon in a property (which essentially is to ventilate the house) aren't expensive either.

I wouldn't stress about it tbh

A geotechnical engineer once told me that radon would only be an issue if you lived for 30 years in a house and never once opened a door or window.
