My dd was referred cos of low self esteem and lack of self confidence and one of the questions which she was aked today was......................................................................................................................
whether she was experiencing any loss of sex drive

No she is 11 It was on a sheet with a list of queations. As this is a CHILD psychiatrist she is seeing I dont understand how this question "slipped" through - surely the questions should be tailored to children

I am so angry but not sure who to vent my anger at -the psychiatrist is a student so I can understand to a point that a mistake could have been made but the clinic is specifically for children so why was my dd presented with a sheet of questions which included this? She was also asked if she had any thoughts about suicide!!
If not then she may have now as the idea has now been put into her head. I am just sooooooo

I can see your worries about the sexual question but can I reassure you that it is not possible to put the thought of suicide into someone's head, ishouldbedoingtheironing. It is very important to give potentially suicidal people the chance to talk over their feelings, both to enable them to let off steam, and to assess the risk of taking their own life. If your dd has never felt suicidal this question will not have influenced her in any way. It is just a question.

Sorry just so wound up about this I realise what you are saying about suicide but what I did not feel comfortable with was having a discussion with my dd about suicide this afternoon . Rightly or wrongly I just did not want to go there with her - things prey on her mind and sometimes once an idea is in her heads she can obsess about it until she has exhausted both me and the subject!!
