Please, please help- in agony with gallbladder

I have gallstones, confirmed with an ultrasound scan a few months ago. This week I have been up to hospital twice with gallbladder attacks. Was given painkillers, nothing more they can do.

Everything is flaring it up and causing attacks, and I mean everything. The only thing that I have been able to eat over the past 4 days is a few bits of fruit. I'm terrified to eat anything.

Last night I didn't even have to eat anything, I just had to drink half a glass of pure orange juice and it started. Because I can't eat I'm having to take painkillers on an empty stomach and they make me sick and sleepy.

My stomach is killing me, I haven't had a bowel movement in 3 days, my head is busting, all I want to do is sleep and I'm so hungry :( I'm absolutely miserable and I don't know what to do.

I have an appointment with a general surgeon at the end of the month to see if thy want to take it out, my doctor said it's likely they won't :( Appaently I'm very young to have gallstones and they will want to try and control it with diet first.

I have had 6 attacks this week and the painkillers are taking up to 2 and a half hours to kick in. I can't go
on like this :( please, what should
I do?

I would go back to hospital now if you are in do much pain. Sounds like it needs to come out sooner rather than later. You could have one trapped!

You can't control it with diet if you can't eat. You might have a stone stuck.

You have my total sympathies. Go back to the hospital and make a noise.

Ask them if they try to fob you off with painkillers how long you can take them for on an empty stomach as you can't eat anything at all now. Tell them you're documenting all of your visits so need the information. The implied threat usually gets them moving IME.

Oh you have my sympathies. I'm having my gallbladder taken out on Wednesday. The surgeon didn't even consider not taking it out. She said if it's causing lots of problems it needs to come out.

When you see the surgeon you need to make it clear how many attacks you are having and that restricting your diet doesn't help at all. It doesn't for me either. Any food can trigger my attacks and eating nothing at all has resulted in attacks too.

If you're still in pain go to hospital. Maybe you need stronger pain killers. I've been through all the pain meds and now have oramorph to take when I get a bad attack. Still takes up to an hour to work on me but it's stopped the hospital admissions since I've had it.

Good luck, I really feel for you. I'm still in bed as was up all night with a bloody attack. I can't wait for Wednesday. Thanks

Thank you for your replies. I'm not having a gb attack right now, just feel weak and sore head/ stomach. I'm guessing this is from lack of food?

I'm terrified of having another attack in work, a team member is off next week and it's down to me to keep the place running. If i can't eat though I'm also scared I will faint.
