My DS had a temperature of 38.5 starting on Tuesday night. I discovered he had a pinprick rash the next day so took him to a&e. His temperature then was 40 so they had him urgently seen and in 20 mins it went up to 40.7.
He was admitted-lots of tests including blood tests and cultures/chest X-ray etc. He then was started on antibiotics.
We stayed overnight and I managed to persuade them to let us go home the next day as I needed to get back to my DD plus DS literally didn't sleep at all while there due to the noise and constant checks/tests.
He has to have IV antibiotics there every day till the blood tests are back.
He's got a cannula in which is really bugging him as it would do.
What do you think this is?
I was wondering scarlet fever as he has been in contact with DDs friend who has it now.
Also 4 year old DD now ill with temperature-38 and sore legs/throat.
The drs aren't sure what it is..

Possibly scarlet fever they should have done a throat swab if there was a suspicion. My son struggled to sleep with it as it was very itchy. It was only a couple of days later that the sandpaper effect came up. Patient . Co. Uk had the best description of it under the professional reference. Gp actually printed it off too.

Hope he's ok soon poor mite Thanks

I'm assuming if it's scarlet fever it'll show up in the blood tests? They didn't do a swab.

Ah yes, my lo was too young to try bloods.

I meant, dr wasn't keen to take blood unnecessarily in the surgery, he was actually ok by then but it needed to be confirmed. Hope alls well soon.
