Private breast scan in London

Hi all. I want to get a private breast scan in London due to severe pains in one breast that have severely impacted my quality of life over the past few weeks and are making it difficult to look after my 10 month old daughter. I'm not worried about cancer as have no lump but I'm struggling to breastfeed my daughter (who has milk allergy and won't tolerate non dairy formula) and despite having been treated for thrush nothing seems to be working. I can now no longer express from the breast despite it engorging with milk, the only way to release the pressure is to breastfeed which then results in agonising pain.

Has anyone had a private scan done and does anyone have any recommendations for where to go? getting a gp referral letter (hopefully) tomorrow but i know not all clinics require this. thanks

There's the London Breast Clinic in Harley Street. Fiona MacNeill heads up the team there - I think she's mainly surgical. Anyway, you can get scans and mammograms done there after a consultation. Their price list is online. It's 108 Harley Street. I've had scans there - they seemed OK. If you're in SW London, I'd recommend Richard Cummins (I've posted about him before) only because I had a problem that nobody could diagnose - except him. He's Parkside and Kingston Hospital. Good luck.

You can get them done at most private hospitals. I go to the King Edward 7 in central London- round corner more or less from Harley St but you do need a referral letter. I think the cost was around £160.

Everywhere will do them. It depends what kind of scan you need. A friend had an MRI for her breats recently and the cost of that plus the consultant etc was approx £2,000.

I've had one at Bupa at Austin Friars in the city, near Liverpool Street/Bank.

The mammographer was especially nice.

OP- might be something you have discussed already with your GP but has mastitis been ruled out first before you have a scan- presumably mammogram and not ultrasound you are asking about?
