Post abscess scarring

3 months on from my large lactational breast abscess bursting (followed by I&D)and it's finally healed over.

Does anyone have experience of the healing/scarring process post fistulating abscess?!

The scar is a dip, and it's all hard around it. Has anyone had abscess scar similar (breast or not?)

yes - I had one on my leg when I was 15 - I still have a small round scar, the size of a 5p piece it is slightly indented. For years (about 10) people would ask what happened as it was quite red but now 23 years on it's still visible but very pale.

I had one about 2 years ago and I still have some bumpiness where it was andd a reddish purple scar about an inch - it's smaller and less red than it was - hope I'm not giving you depressing news

Thanks both. No that's not bad news. It's just good to know. I've kind of accepted that my boob will have a mark and dent for the forseeable and DH not too bothered by it!

I had a breast abscess that burst, it also opened up the 3 puncture holes from the core biopsy I had done.
Nearly 2 years on I still have purple skin colouring where the abscess was but scar tissue is less lumpy. My puncture holes are still quite noticeable though.

Ah - thank you interesting the skin is discoloured, that's what mine is like currently - purple like a bruise.

Luckily my aspiration scars healed before the burst...
