just been to baby clinic and told DS is yellow! Hv asked if he eats a lot of carrots and squash. She said it was too much beta carotene and i have to cut back completely.

anyone else had this? how long does it take to fade? He loves carrots and sweet potato when and how much can I feed them to him?

not sure with babies but my sister was an odd tinge or orange for a while when she snacked ( a lot!) on carrots when she was a teeen

I'd be inclined to take him to the GP, to be quite honest - I wouldn't trust the HV to be able to diagnose this. Plus there are other things that can cause yellowing of the skin which should be ruled out by the GP first.

get an emergency review here - at the hospital.

when Sunny D came out there was a story about a girl who drank nothing else and turned yellow! Wouldn't worry, as long as they're sure he hasn't got jaundice....

Why not mix the carrot and squash with potato for a while, or just have them every other day, and see if things improve?

I agree, a second opinion would be wise.

i didn't realise it could be serious. He looks very healthy and happy. I only went to clinic though cos he rests his head down on floor a lot and DP worries more than me. i will take him in now thanks

btw- my HV told me dd was jaundiced when she wasn't! Traipsed her up to the hospital 2 weeks after caesarian (drove myself as dh was at work), lugged carseat up several flights of stairs to be laughed at by the paediatricians who told me she wasn't jaundiced, just pale like me.

Agree, though, unless your ds eats nothing but yellow food, would be safer to get him to GP
