SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 12:26

First time and feel very depressed and moody. Going NHS. The prep looks worse than my husbands private one. He had a diet sheet for a week and one sachet of prep. I have two scahets and no diet advise.

Really worke up, and husband keeps faffing around not helping with DD.

It's typical to give Moviprep now. He may have had Picolax. Hope you get on alright, drink plenty of water alongside it.

SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 12:44

Is it horrible? I'm still not drinking it much because they are still upstairs getting ready to go out.

I've not tried it sorry, I work in the Endoscopy unit though! It's just a LOT to drink is our patients main complaint. When is it being done?

SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 12:51

Got to be there at 0815 but it isn't the appointment time.

I had colonoscopy about 3 weeks ago. Prep can take a few hours to work but when it starts working you'll know! Don't leave the house today as you will literally have seconds warning before you need to go. Good luck.

jaffacake2 · 05/10/2014 14:10

Actually when it does start stay in the bathroom,I had no control at all your bowel empties very quickly.
Hope all goes well.

SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 14:14

Do you think it would be ok to drink the second prep an hour early? Will I be on the loo all night?

OP posts:
KissMyFatArse · 05/10/2014 15:03

Once it starts you will be on the loo pretty constant for a few hours, I think I was about 5 hours before it started to settle down. I'd just take it when your supposed to tbh you will have a up and down sleep now regardless.

SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 16:15

I've been on the loo for half an hour and it stopped. That was about about hour ago. I've watched 3 episodes of Game of Thrones, washed my hair and dried it.
Might start the next one early as nothing much is happening.

I do think it was after the second one it became worse, mind and drink all the water too cause you'll become dehydrated with all the 'loo activity'Wink

VelvetEmbers · 05/10/2014 17:09

You need to read this. It is hilarious.

Le1890 · 05/10/2014 20:59

I hope you get on ok.

I've to make an app to have one done and I'm so dreading it Becuase of the prep. :(

Can I ask what you are having it done for? X

SureFootedWhispher · 05/10/2014 22:08

Well they said to look for crohns but after spending time googling while sat on the lav I am terrified I will have something far worse.

I don't know if I dare go to bed.

Prep hasn't been that bad actually, but dissapointed I have only lost about half a pound.

You?

OP posts:
Le1890 · 05/10/2014 23:57

Have you had the poo calprotectin test?

I had a stomach bug march and things didn't settle so gp did the above test which looks from crohns etc. it came back at 150. Normal is up to 50. I don't have constant diarreah and like you I am terrified I have something worse. I did see a GI consultant in June and he basically just wrote me off and said I had ibs constipation. He said the high result of the calprotectin test was 'nothing' and sent me on my way.

But I'm still having issues and I asked for a second opinion. So I got a letter through end of last week advising me I was booked for a diagnostic test and to call them this week to get an appointment. I also have awful vitamin b12 levels which no sooner to I get up with supplements then they nose dive.

What symptoms do you have?x

Le1890 · 06/10/2014 13:21

Good luck for today ! Let us know how it goes x

SureFootedWhispher · 06/10/2014 14:51

I had exhaustion, change in BM and weight loss so they decided to do one to eliminate things. Found not very much but took biopsies.

I must say the sedation or morphine didn't work and I was fully aware watching the screen and answering the questions.

My colon was also squashed and kinked, apparently from my crash c section, and he had to open and straighten it to get the scope around.

I found it hurt a lot but I got through it. If I had to I wouldn't hessitate to have another. Feel free to PM me if worrid or have any questions.
