A bite when gardening from what??

Hello. Dh was gardening on fri with no gloves. He picked up a load of leaves and felt a sharp bite on his pinky finger. He said his whole finger went immediately numb and he felt slightly strange/lightheaded. He went inside and locked back door and sat down just in case he had any further side effects (for dh to do this it must have been bad!!,) he then experienced really severe pins and needles in his finger. He was fine a short while later but still sore finger.

His pinky finger is still swollen (you can visibly see the skin is tight and its swollen compared to other pinky) and he says it's very painful/pins and needles etc.

Any idea what this bite could've been? Just a small red dot on his finger nothing very remarkable. He said he squeezed it as soon as bite happened and it bled.

wasp/bee?
spider
dirty plant thorn?

draw a line around the red/swollen part to see if it gets worse.

I would go to the doctors tomorrow if it seems any worse at all, I got bitten on the ankle whilst gardening a few years ago, no idea what it was but ended up with cellulitis in my leg. I was lucky to catch it in time before it needed hospital treatment.

It could have been a prick not a bite. When was his last tetanus booster?
