Please help. Genital herpes?

3 days ago I nicked myself shaving my nether regions (stupidly using an old razor)

Everything seemed alright then the next day I woke up and found a small circle break in the skin on the inside of my outer lip. I also had soreness on my outer lip.

It has progressed over the last few days to be very sore, the outside is looking more rash like. There have been no blisters but some tiny breaks in the skin. It's fucking excruciating.

I haven't had sex in months, I am fucking terrified. I should be sleeping but I just keep crying. Everything I look at online points to herpes although it doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen.

Please somebody help me calm down. It's herpes though isn't it. I can't find anything else that it could be.

It's very unlikely, there's no reason that a nick would cause it to flair up now. It's probably just a bacterial infection and the more you worry and poke it about the worse it'll be. I once did the same and managed to convince myself I had herpes, I'd just been prodding it about too much in my paranoia. I did learn from this experience that herpes isn't as big a deal as many people think, it doesn't need to significantly impact your life and a lot of the hoohaa was created by drugs companies. Leave it alone and it'll probably clear up in a couple of days.

You need to go to see your gp. Don't be embarrassed, they'll either prescribe something or refer you for treatment. Step away from Dr Google, it will only make you paranoid

oh and at the clinic they told me that if I was having my first Herpes outbreak I'd definitely know about it due to the extreme pain and flu like symptoms and that in future I shouldn't rely on google

So flu like symptoms are a definite? Because I definitely have no other symptoms.

Well there probably are exceptions but from the way they were speaking it didn't sound like they'd seen a case without them or at least very few. They said they'd had people crawling in on their hands an knees because of the pain. I think they said I had bacterial vaginosis and mild thrush and sent me home with some aqueous cream to use when showering. After this I stopped stressing about it and it quickly cleared up. If you're as worried as I was, and it sounds like you are, just get down to a sexual health clinic and they can put your mind at ease. Is there any reason why you jumped to the conclusion it's herpes or is it just because of google?

If you nicked yourself with an old blade, the cut may have turned septic. Don't put off getting treatment, it'll be easy to treat now before it gets worse (it's a cut so unlikely to be herpes)

Because a graze like rash with a few cuts turned up on the outside that I hadn't noticed before. I googled and google tells me it must be herpes (or I'm dying of syphillis lol)

They don't look like the pictures of herpes and I haven't had any other symptoms just PAIN. There are also a few swollen lumps but no blistery type things and it hadn't crusted over.

I will definitely go to the docs tomorrow I'm still scared although this has reassured me a lot.

It's only on one side as well.

I think stressing is making it worse

I presume Herpes is a 'special' kind of pain like a cold sore, when I am getting a cold sore I feel really ill, hot and headachey - go and see your GP tomorrow but my instinct is its an infected 'graze'

How did you fare at your gp op?
Spoke with a friend who's a nurse, Herpes is an std so you can't get it from nicking yourself. Hth

With your first outbreak of herpes you will have severe flu like symptoms. Skin is so sensitive all over its hard to get dressed. I'm.nearly certain you won't have herpes its more like an infected graze as somebody mentioned. If no one else has used the razor I wouldn't worry!
