Hello all, dh has been a bit rough for a while , been for bloods today as go doesnt know whats wrong , snd was told to ring in a few weeks for results. His surgery is rubbish - if he needs to be seen again he will hAve to wait another 2 weeks to be seen.
Can anyone recognise any if these symtoms?
Very healthy normally - cycles 6 miles a day. Last. 6 weeks feeling run down and achey - like a viral infection. Fingernails all pitted and flaking, like they are coming away at the edges - gp has no idea what is wrong - didnt even mention the wors fungal infection which was my first thought. Last few days he says he hurts all the time , feels physically drained and its a struggle to get up from his desk - any ideas? And any experience of how long blood testa really take ? Is it worth calling in a week rather than 2? Im starting to get really worried , thank everyone xxxx

Blood tests - it depends on what's being asked for. Basic tests are usually done within 2 days, results back to the surgery by day 3. Anything more complex could take longer, as it might have to be batched (i.e. wait until there are enough similar tests that need doing before it gets done). It probably wouldn't hurt to phone in a week just to see.

Could be some kind of nutrient deficiency causing the nail thing; have they gone spoon-shaped as well? Or got white spots? Or vertical "splits"?

Look at this for his nails - the pitting seems to indicate some kind of psoriasis or eczema - does he have those normally?

My FIL was absolutely drained and unwell - but nothing specific, and was eventually diagnosed with pernicious anemia.

Hope he feels better soon.

Thsnks everyone - no no spooning of the nails - not really like any in the pictures , they sort of flake at the sides . None of you have come back with any scary illnesses so thats good - i have been starting to fear the worst xxx

Thyroid issues? I had weird flaking nails when I got Hashimotos.
