Ongoing pelvic pain - getting a bit scared.

For the past 10 months, I've been having intermittent pain in my lower right groin area which extends into my back and down my leg. It's a sharp pain but not severe enough to take my breath away. I can't feel a lump and I don't have the recoil pain you get with appendix pain. Has anyone had anything similar? Any suggestions welcome!

Same here-scans havent found anything out of the ordinary. Had internal vaginal scan to check ovaries however no obvious problems. Pain down my leg impacts on what exercise I can do-it does come and go. Pain doesn't seem related to menstrual cycle that I can see. No further forward here-will be interested to see what responses you get. Have you seen the doctor?

I am wondering if you have seen a gynaecologist to date. If you have not already done so I would ask your GP to make a referral to such a person and keep a daily pain and symptom diary. This can give the gynae further clues.

Does this pain get worse mid cycle; any pain that is cyclical in nature should be checked out further in any case.

(I have had not too dissimilar pains through my groin area and down my sciatic nerve and that was due to endometriosis).

lurking as I'm having this too :-( it's weird & unpleasant.

nappies - been to the doctor yet?

nappiesandnaptimes · 26/09/2014 18:45

I went to the doctors when I first had it, he thought it could be a grumbling appendix and to just monitor it. I keep meaning to go back to the gp but have a 8month old and a 3.8yr old and no time. My periods haven't come back yet since having dd2 so don't think it's linked to them.
I will google adenomyosis sunbathing cat.
Thank you all for your responses - just keep getting scared it could be something nasty or that needs an operation.

sounds like you best find the time to get checked though, I went & he's trying me on antibiotics first but seems puzzled by it.

If your periods haven't come back yet in 8 mths if get that checked mine came at 4mths but all different I know esp if breastfeeding

nappiesandnaptimes · 26/09/2014 18:57

They didn't come back until 9 months with dd1 so not too worried about that. The pain seems to get worse as the day goes on so often forget about it until it's too late to get an appointment.

Forgot to add - pain is worse if I strain on the toilet (sorry tmi)

Really the first thing I would do is go to the sti clinic for a check up to rule out infections and ask for advice. It's the quickest place to go for that area rather than referrals.

Le1890 · 26/09/2014 22:53

I have this and mine is from the sacroniliac joint. I had it in pregnancy too.

Now when I first wake the pain is gone but as the day goes on the sorer it gets from moving about. standing and sitting make it worse. Also worse when I strain on toilet think it's to do with the muscles.

Agree you need to have it checked as could be numerous minor things.x
