diastasis recti and abdominal hernia

Hello all,

This is my very first post here and so apologies if any of it is a repeat.
I have a beautiful little boy who is 11 months now, but left me with a diastasis and huge hernia which makes me look like I am 6 months pregnant with my belly button popping out-it's not a great look, neither does it feel right.

We tried physiotherapy and tried the Tuppler technique, neither of them did anything. Then I went to see a specialist at the hospital who was very dismissive and said it is more of an 'aestetics issue' and wouldn't operate me in case I have another baby...which we haven't made a decision about just yet anyway. Meanwhile I am trawling the internet and seeing that some other mums got this operation done and got pregnant afterwards with no complications at all.

I also saw a private doctor back in my home country who painted a very different picture and said I should definitely get it done now, as it is a hernia you shouldn't be left untreated.

Besides, I am yet to meet another mum who has the same problem. Apparently it's such a common condition!!
Did anyone have/had the same problem? Did you get an operation? I am so keen to hear about your experiences.
