PCOS Referral

I have recently, through my gp, been diagnosed with PCOS.
He has now reffered me to a gynaecologist.
I am not looking to get pregnant, quite the opposite in fact, but I do need to get my symptoms, such as my acne, hirsutism and weird coloured skin patches under control.
I also noticed this morning, that my hair is beginning to look thin on the scalp. Sad
I have cut out sugar, I am going to stop drinking, as of today.
I don't eat pasta or white bread, rice is now going on my banned list too.
I am feeling overwhelmed, though and thinking should my dr not have reffered me to an endocrinologist?

I was sent to an endocrinologist. Perhaps call the doctor and check? There is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise

Hi belle
Just wishing you luck. I had pcos infertility and now I have two children my pcos is returning and I am seeing hair growth, mood swings, inability to loose weight despite walking for miles a day.
I haven't been referred to an endocrinologist but I will also push for this if a future scan shows lots of cysts.
A low gi diet is good, have whole meal versions of rice pasta etc. high protein diet good too. I used to take metformin which helped me lose weight too.
Good luck xx

Thanks for the replies. I have in fact, today, dug out my book on low g.i. The last time I followed it, was purely for loosing weight because back then I don't think I even knew what PCOS was, though looking back, I must have had it even then.
And when I started following it, was when I got pregnant with ds!
So for anyone trying to concieve, I can assure them that it works!
However really do not want to get pregnant now, recently had to have my coil removed because it had slipped into my cervix, something the sonographer noticed while she was scanning my ovaries!
I am going to get in touch with my gp but will also see the gynaecologist, as I want a tubal ligation. But maybe I could persuade them to remove my ovaries. Hmm
Between this and my cfs, I really do feel like I am falling apart!
