I have a terrible migraine. I haven't felt this bad for years as a neurologist gave me naratriptan and its been amazing. Today it hasn't worked at all. That's not happened before. I've also taken 4 ibuprofen so far. Wtf else can I do? Feel sick and dizzy and the head pain is making it difficult to think. It hurting to look at this.
Any idea please. Desperate.

Go to bed?
I had one in August, my first in 6 years as I medicate daily.

I'd forgotten how painful they were.
Hope it passes soon!

The only thing that works for me is to sip some water and go to bed in a darkened and totally silent room.
I take a hot water bottle too as I get a spell of shivering with mine, but then I have to throw everything off as I get far too hot, so a damp face cloth comes in handy across my brow. My temperature alternates in the extreme.

Sleep is the only thing that works. Sometimes it doesn't take too long.
Is that possible right now?
Hope it lifts soon.

I have to go to bed in a darkened room. I use a hot water bottle on the back of my head / neck as it helps dilate the blood vessels & take some of the worst of the pain away.

Codeine is the only thing that works for me along with a dark room and sleep

Cold pack on forehead also helps

Firstly, are you absolutely sure that it's a migraine? Is it like other migraines you've had? Is the pain in the same place?

Things to be aware of: Meningitis symptoms- any sore throat, fever, fluey symptoms, cold limbs, etc?
Subarachnoid haemorrhage: Was the headache very sudden and very severe, like you'd been hit with a hammer, on the back of your head?

If it's a migraine, you've already taken your naratriptan and it's not worked, so you shouldn't take more.

You've also taken too many ibuprofen so you shouldn't take more of that.

Have you taken any paracetamol?

It sounds like perhaps your stomach has gone into stasis, so the drugs you're taking aren't being absorbed.

I find tying a pair of tights tightly around my eyes/forehead and going to sleep helps.

Thank you. Couldn't think straight and was home alone with 7yr old earlier. Luckily my dd had decided when she left that I was so ill her dad should come home from work so rang him.

Went to bed with blackout blinds shut and slept for 4 hours. Have now got that hungover feeling but do much better.
Thanks for being there and the advice.
