Planning to cut down on alcohol

I'm not going to drink on a work night. Not aiming to binge at the weekend, but evening drinking has become regular and I need to cut down.

Just writing it here so I do it!

Fewer bottles in the recycling anyway!

Good for you. I found that having a soft drink, like a sparkling water, in a wine glass helped - it felt refreshing but without the alcohol.

Trying very hard to do the same! Nice sparkling soft drink in a wine glass is a good idea! also I find if I eat earlier in the evening I lose my appetite for alcohol (I love a drink before and whilst cooking) Grin

To be successful you will need to look at why you drink in the week if you know it's not the best idea. If it's simply a habit then stopping may be enough but if you are drinking due to stress/anxiety/depression etc you need to address that as well.
I've just read Ruby Wax's book on mindfulness. You may like to try this at the same time....if nothing else you'll be keeping yourself busy reading in the evening!!!

Fair dues; easier said than done of course, particularly if you've got a busy social life! I'm more indoorsy but love a beer in front of the telly - when there's a lot of good stuff on, it's easy to see consumption rise a bit.

Few tips to cut back here: www.tescohealthandwellbeing.com/advice/diet-and-nutrition/3241-alcohol-do-you-need-to-cut-back. Different people will find different stuff useful, but I find the 'set yourself a budget' one pretty handy. I buy less stuff, but enjoy it a bit more! Another thing that I like a lot is a tonic without the gin.

Well, I'm quite pleased with myself. Didn't have any alcoholic drink from Sunday - Thursday. I'm pretty sure it's just habit. It's always available and so I just drink it unthinkingly. Once I decided not to, I just didn't.

Visitation from PILs tomorrow for the weekend, so I'll be sharing a bottle or two with them.
