I'm desperate or I wouldn't be posting about this....
Nineteen days ago, I went out for a meal. Later that afternoon, I had the first of repeated bouts of diarrhoea. Not constant, but always accompanied by severe stomach cramps.
I didn't connect it with the meal until I went to the doctor on Friday as I was feeling so ill. He said it is probably E. coli, took some blood tests, examined me (whole abdomen very tender) and signed me off for a week.
He asked me to do a 'sample' Blush. No more diarrhoea that day, today not until after the deadline for samples to be handed in.
I still feel terrible at times, interspersed with feeling ok-ish. I'm barely eating as that just triggers more cramps and visits to the loo. Still trying to drink plenty.
Doctor said to just carry on as I am, and muttered something about needing to be hospitalised if I don't get better or it gets worse.
I'm due to return to work on Friday, but can't see it happening at the moment.
Sorry for the massive post!
Can anyone who's been in this situation offer ant advice?
Thanks.

Oh goodness you poor thing. I think I would go back to the GP. Are you taking dioralyte/similar? Hope you get better soon.

I don't think I'm dehydrated.
I'm so annoyed with myself as I thought it was ibs so just kept going until I couldn't. (Sorry that sounds so ridiculously dramatic!)

No it can really take it out of you. Sad (Haven't had e-coli but had campylobacter food poisoning which was pretty horrendous) My GP advised dioralyte as it apparently calms your tummy down as well as being hydrating. It is pretty minging though.

Sounds miserable for you in any case and I would get some further medical help. It's a long time to be ill.

I think I'm going to ask a gp to call me tomorrow.

Seen the dr this morning. Given dioralyte. Managed to send a sample off, so should know on Thursday what's going on.
If it's not bacterial, I'll be referred to gastro.
