St John's wort

I've got a 3 mo and while I don't have PND (had it first time around so I know what it's like) I am feeling a bit low and mildly anxious from time to time. Think it's all tiredness related, and I know it will in time pass, but does anyone think St Johns wort might be worth a go as a short term pick up?

It certainly works for me. I tend to need it over the winter months when my mood sinks and find it brings me back to normal within about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. I don't think it is effective on anxiety, but more for low mood. Anything more serious then you need to see doctor. Also B vitamins are very useful. I don't know the ins and outs of it passing through milk (assuming you are breastfeeding).

No, not breastfeeding. Thanks for your reply - given previous pnd I do make sure I'm not slipping towards anything worse. Thanks again.

It interacts with a number of meds including the pill (making it less effective) so research its contra-indications first.

When I've used it, it has been very effective - found the Natures Aid brand best.

Thanks gobbin. Not on the pill and not taking anything else apart from evening primrose, so I'll check whether I should continue with that too, or just take sjw.
