Have I broken my finger?

About 10 days ago I bashed my little finger, I was holding the handle of the wheelie bin, tried to park it against the wall and sandwiched my finger. It was really painful, and it got a bit of a bruise just below the top joint.

The swelling has gone now, and I have full mobility, but there's a pronounced lump where the impact was, and it's still very sore if I press on it.

Should I have done something or seen someone about it?

Maybe see your GP or practice nurse as you could have done some damage to the joint. Have you been putting ibuprofen gel or anything on it?

No, nothing. There's a minor injuries place near me, I'll see if I can call in today.

If it weren't so painful when I touch it I wouldn't be worrying at all, I was assuming if I could move it it wasn't broken.

Is there anything that is done for broken fingers?

No break, the lump is a haematoma apparently, which will go on its own.
