I am in agony. Haven't been for a week Sad. I am taking 15ml of lactulose with it (3 times a day), as well as 2 sachets of movicol a day. Drinking plenty of water. What else can I do?

Have you seen a GP? Phosphate enema?

Tiredemma · 13/09/2014 09:27

califig is also good

EmNetta · 13/09/2014 10:17

Try having some good orange juice - maybe instead of lactulose- and adding exercise if possible. Hot water bottles/wheat bags can help with the pain.

I'm so sorry ,I've been there and it's awful .

Glycerin suppositries ? Or however theyre spelt !

Kundry · 13/09/2014 16:33

Lactulose pointless - give up on it. Increase the Movicol to 4 a day and then by 1 a day (up to 8) until you go - you will go, prob long before this! Afterwards make sure you take the Movicol every day without fail - you may be OK on 2 a day or need slightly more, you won't need as many as you needed to get unclogged. The key thing is that if you miss them for one day, everything dries up inside and you will be back to the beginning again.

Kundry · 13/09/2014 16:33

Also lactulose, as well as being v mild so prob not helping, is notorious for causing loads of wind -so likely making your pain worse.

PunkrockerGirl · 13/09/2014 21:06

Leave off the Lactulose - it's rubbish apart from giving you wind. Try senna or bisocodyl (available otc). Movicol as a last resort.

Hi, I have used fibogel, as have had to take codeine myself from time to time, it is not a laxative it is a high fibre drink, but a week is a long time, I would go and see your GP. As far as I understand lactulose just softens the stools making them easier to pass.
