Big ridge on my belly, am I falling apart?

This is a bit of a wierd one, but I hope someone know's what I'm on about.

When I lean backwards I get a ridge on my tummy which goes from my belly button up to my ribs. I think it's probably been there since I was pregnant the first time (E is now 1yo).

If I lie on my back and tense the muscles I can feel a gap in the same place, like the 2 sides of my tummy aren't stuck together anymore.

I seem to remember something in my leaflet on post natal exercise saying go to the doctor if you have one but I never really thought about it then. Now I'm pg again and am worried my insides are going to fall out!

Has anyone else ever heard of this or am I just being paranoid???

your not falling apart. it's your tummy muscles, after pg they are like that unless you exercise and now your pg again they will be like that again

I can't explain it properly but didn't want you to go unanswered, someon else will be along I'm sure

post pregnancy its perfectly normal to be able to put a couple of fingers in the gap between your tummy muscles. if you tighten your muscles you should be able to 'clasp' the fingers with your tummy. do this as a strengthening exercise and the gap should get smaller over time - ie less room for fingers! do do the exercise though rather than leave it. don't do too much that puts strain on your tummy for a while. hope that helps.

Ok that makes sense, I did get eeeeeeeeeenormous while carrying E which wasn't helped by her being 2 weeks late. I'll try to do the exercises while I still can!
