Gastroenteritis?

I was really sick 2 nights ago, being sick every 5 to 10 minutes all night. DH rang the out of hours doctor for advice as I was so sick I could not speak. Towards the morning it settled down and I have stopped being sick since. I was in bed all day yesterday with a terrible headache and slept most of the day. Last night the headache kept waking me up and today it's still there.

I tried getting up to go to the bathroom and I feel violently sick/shaky. The out of hours GP was sure this is gastroenteritis, clearly a very severe form. Has anyone else had it for so long? It really is horrible!!

Sounds like you are dehydrated, and that is making the symptoms worse. Try some dioralyte

Thanks, I thought that too....I have been drinking water/juice, etc

Unfortunately I don't have any dioralyte in the house, and I can hardly stand up....is water/juice/food going to sort it out if it is? I am feeling a little better but the headache isn't letting up yet....I have never been so ill!!!

I'm wondering if the headache is a migraine which is in fact making you sicker. Send your DH for imigran recovery at the pharmacy. Marvelous stuff. Feel better soon.

If you haven't got any Dioralyte you can make your own rehydration mixture as follows:

1litre water
6 teaspoons sugar
half teaspoon salt
drop of squash for flavour and mix well.

Tastes shite compared to Dioralyte but very effective.
