Sleep and Appitite recovering from nasty virus - is this normal?

DD 15 months has had nasty cough/cold wheezy virus and temps of up to 103 last week. This culminated in an overnight stay in hospital on Tuesday , and she is now on Salbutamol inhaler.
Her temperature is normal now, and cough seems improved, but her appitite is very poor - she won't take any 'real' food, but will nibble toast, baguette and biscuits. I am still breastfeeding and have upped feeds.
Also she is sleeping much more in the day time - normally naps about 1.5 hours at lunchtime, but has done 2.5 hours already today. She has the odd half hour where her energy levels seem normal, and then just gradually winds down to the point where we can tell she wants to nap - the pointing upstairs and waving goodbye to downstairs being a big hint !
Just wanting to check if this is all normal and how long approx it will take her to recover?

bump - she's much the same today. Anyone got any idea how long she will take recovering? Don't know whether to take her back to Docs tomorrow?

If you still think that there is a problem, then take her back to the doctors. It could just be that her body is taking a while to recover from a nasty illness. You're doing the right thing by upping the breastfeeding.

No advice but i hope your dd is better soon

Thanks for the replies . She really perked up this afternoon - although we have had to put her to bed an hour and a half early , as she had a very early nap today and wouldn't go down again this pm. Her appetite is still shot though - she nibbled at a few bits of toast this morning, had a bit of baguette this afternoon. She did manage to eat a good few desert spoons of icecream this afternoon though (post stuff with real cream honest), but no 'proper' tea.

There is something called post viral fatigue syndrome which can go on for sometime. Last week must have knocked your little one for 6 poor thing, I hope she picks back up soon

Sounds normal.

Dh has had this bug thing and spent most of 4 days inbed and sleeping.

Ds now has it, fortunately in milder form and is doing exactly the same as your dd, sleeping loads more, and seeming ok for about 1/2hour before winding down, and not eating properly. I've upped the bf too.

It takes a few days to feel normal again, but it sounds like she's getting there.
