Menstrual cup removal FAIL!

SquidgyMummy · 08/09/2014 17:18

Tried a Meluna yesterday for the first time as was going swimming.
Insertion no problem. Problem was trying to even reach it to get it out.

Sorry if now TMI, Pushed my index finger in; but could barely touch the stalk; not even trimmed. Cup seemed to have ridden up much higher than insertion.
(I'm not used to having a rummage as I more of an applicator tampon rahte than lillets type of girl.)
In the end, had to get DP to get it out (even bearing down didn't lower it enough.)

I want to perservere but I think I need a longer cup, perhaps with the loop handle.
Any tips for people like me with what appears to be an - ahem - long vagina.

I have only ever used a mooncup - and tbh had to trim the stalk virtually off as it sits low.

Perhaps try Mooncup next?

But it's a bit expensive to keep trying out the different models isn't it.

Good luck

Sorry, I have no advice for you, but I can't stop giggling at 'having a rummage' Grin

In shower, deep squat and bear down. Agree though that mooncup tends to sit low anyway. There is a knack to it, and it gets easier.

And ignore the stalk until you've broken the seal

I have the opposite problem!
I think my 'canal' is too short and the bloody thing feels like it's hanging out. I can get it any higher as my cervix is right there.
Help!
I hope your DP wasn't too fazed!

No DP wasn't bothered, but I was rather worried when he suggested getting a pair of pliers....

I was going to get the XL Meluna with the Loop however I will look at the Mooncup again.

Also the cup was not full as i had a mid-cycle bleed, and I took it out after 3 hours. Perhaps When i am fully one gravity may push it down.

DP seems to think it was wedged Confused so no idea what my anatomy is like in there....
Bearing down did not seem to help.....

I want to avoid DP's suggestion on tying a bit of string on the end
